Dug up old slides: 2018 making merchandise panel

Amanda Hassan

Hey so in like 2018 I have a talk on how to make merchandise at ANE. I think it went over well, people clapped a lot. I meant to post the slides when I got home and uhhhhhh, that never happened. 😅

I was thinking again this evening about my personal website and how I’d really, really like to re-focus it on providing resources and free to use art . That’s been a dream of mine for a long time but I’ve never quite gotten around to it. I’d love to do a series on how to make X because I spent months learning how to do crazy things like silk screen in my apartment. The act of creating a product, especially by hand, is so special to me. I wish people talked about it more in the fandom.

Anyways that project is a long way off but for now here’s the dang slides! If you have any questions please comment or contact me anywhere. I LOVE talking about this stuff.

Packing for a Furry Artist Alley + Anthro New England 2019

Amanda Hassan

In 2019 I went to ANE artist alley. This was my first time at an artist alley, prior to this weekend I had only done dealers den tables. I thought it would be fun to try and make a little YouTube video to go along with it. Clearly I have not fulfilled my youtuber dreams haha.

Packing List

Marker Badges

  • Bristol board

  • Pencils, erasers, ect

  • Zebra marker pen or similar pen ie. Micron

  • Laminator

  • 5mil laminator sheets

  • Badge clips

  • Scissors

  • Commission price sheet and examples

  • Markers, optional. If I’m staying at a con I leave the markers in my room and focus on getting linework and inking done at table. If it’s a slow day I may send someone back to the room to get them.

Merchandise

  • Whatever merch you are selling (ie. stickers, pins)

  • Clear price labels for each item

  • Bags to put purchased merchandise in. Make sure to drop a business card in the bag too!

Business

  • Any tax licensure the con requires

  • iPad with Square loaded

  • Square reader (if you have the chip & dip reader I would still bring the slider! I have been in situations where only the slider works)

  • About $100 in small bills to make change

  • Business cards and holder

  • Table cloth, optional

  • Commission form, clip board, and pen

    • I highly recommend designing and printing off a form for someone to fill out for any commissions taken at con. It can be hectic and you want to make sure you get all the key details. Go over it with the customer, make sure you can read their writing. I usually verify their contact as well by sending a text or telegram message.

    • Physical commission sheets also make a great ‘queue’ at con. I keep the sheets in order and physically write down when I complete a step on the sheet ie. ‘sketched’, ’inked’, ’done’
